  • Overview

    Control engineering has now a day emerged as one of the most challenging and well researched subjects. In most of the Industries now days, Industrial automation has emerged as one of the key areas for growth. In such a scenario a Masters Degree programme in Control engineering is well sought after. And this is the scenario in not only the developed countries, but also in India.

    Process control engineering is very important for the functioning of automated technical processes and systems. Processes are used to transform basic raw materials into finished products or goods.

    M.E. in Control Systems offers electives for the candidates to improve the knowledge of emerging control system, techniques to optimize the designs and areas of control system applications.

  • Eligibility criteria

    • The Candidate should be an Indian National;
    • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant field of Engineering and Technology from All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved institutions or equivalent, with at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories and persons with disability belonging to Maharashtra State only);
    • Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant course of Engineering and Technology as specified in the eligibility criteria for admission to a Post Graduate Degree course of the concerned University for which admission is being sought;
    • Obtained Non Zero Positive Score in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by Indian Institute of Technology;

    • For sponsored candidates, minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and/ or research institute/any Government Department or Government Autonomous Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought.

    After completion of the course of post-graduation in Computer Engineering many new horizons can be explored.

    The scope involves:


    • Successful post graduates of M.E. in Electrical Control system find employment in a range of fields such as remote sensing, textile and chemical industries, agricultural- based industries, aeronautical areas and industries in the manufacturing sector. They can find employment opportunities in public-sector companies as well such as Instrumentation Ltd., Bharat Electronics Ltd. and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and private companies such as Honeywell and other IT companies. Control Engineers are highly demanded in public and private sectors.
    • Control System Engineers have a good scope for growth especially in developing countries where new industries are coming up continually. Broadly, a Control engineer can work in 3 different kinds of companies. The first are pure-play automation companies that are suppliers of automation equipment and software to various industries. Then there are industrial users of automation products and services, such as companies in automotive, power and oil & gas sectors. Finally, there are services companies, which provide consultancy services to integrate products from pure-play automation companies with the manufacturing processes of the industrial users.
    • Gradually, the engineer has the option of progressing into designing and modelling of the systems. The top recruiters would include companies from Civil Aviation, Development Centers in various States, Defense, NPL, Power Sector etc. A fresh M.E. control engineer can expect an approximate compensation INR 4,00,000 per annum.
