Mechanical Engineering Department

Department of Mechanical Engineering started with the B.E. Programme in the year 2010-11. It was affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. The first batch of Mechanical Engineering came out in 2013-14. Since then3 batches have received their degrees. The department received Savitribai Phule Pune University approval in 2013-14 for 60 intakes admission to Direct Second Year Engineering, now we have total 120 intake seats for under graduate programme.

Over the decades, there is an increasing demand for the mechanical engineers in core areas like manufacturing, robotics, automotive/transportation and air conditioning. Mechanical Engineering has interdisciplinary association with the areas like nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, environmental and bio-medical fields. Mechanical engineering can design and develop everything one thinks of as a machine – from bicycles to supersonic fighter jets. Mechanical Engineering plays most important role in the industrial growth. To meet the above requirements, the latest subjects like Industrial Fluid Power, Computational Fluid Dynamics, finite Element method, CAD/CAM and Energy Audit & Management are introduced into the curriculum of Mechanical Engineering. To cope up with these subjects practically, department has set well equipped & computerized laboratories like Advance Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechatronics, Industrial Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Dynamics of machinery, Theory of Machine, I.C. Engines, CAD/CAM Laboratory with Advanced software like AutoCAD, Ansys, PRO-E, MATLAB, Master-CAM, Catia V5R20 etc, which are utilized by undergraduate students for conducting experiments. Mechanical Engineers can take career paths in industry, Entrepreneur/Business Owner, Research Labs, Military, Government sectorand PSU’S.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
  • PEO1: The graduates of Mechanical Engineering will be capable to develop the basic skills in Engineering along with conceptual understanding to cater the need of industry.
  • PEO2: The graduates will be prepared to understand the requirement of the society and provide the solutions by applying the technologies, professionally.
  • PEO3: The graduates will be prepared to understand developments in the related areas for perusal of research, innovation and higher studies.
  • PEO4: The graduates will be capable to communicate the acquired engineering knowledge effectively to the beneficiaries for implementation of projects.
  • PEO5: The graduates will be self motivated for the pursuit of knowledge.

It gives me pleasure to introduce our Mechanical Engineering Department. We have an excellent academic result in the tradition of GHRIET along with campus placement in reputed industries. In the era of globalization, to be the leader in the competition, the Institute and department has increased the interaction with industry since many years in the form of consultancy services, training, sponsored projects and joint research work. Department has signed MoU with Onword Technologies Ltd. The Onword Technologies has offered license of MasterCAM software and through this software, they are conducting workshop and seminar for the student’s benefit. The department has a vision to become a center of excellence in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Departmental strength of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty along with creative students are working hard to achieve this goal. Department has prepared academic calendar which has a detailed academic as well as other activities schedule. Students are encouraged to participate in Group discussion, Technical Quiz, Aptitude Test under the MESA and also Roborace, T-shirt painting, Paper presentation and CAD venture are effectively conducted under MEGA Technical event.Askill development Club activity works to enhance writing skills and communication skills for the benefit of the students, also we have a great achievement in Technical paper presentation competitions.
