    The rapid development in the computer field in areas like networking, multimedia and the internet have created vast job opportunities in the computer and IT sector. This sector is also witnessing the fastest growth and rapid change. New software and techniques come out every month and professionals have to keep pace with the rapid advancements. Introduction with the advent of PC, the information technology industry has undergone a quantum change. The software revolution has totally changed the way of living. Today, probably no sector is untouched by Information Technology.

    Manufacturing, Finance, Banking, Marketing, Entertainment, Education and several other fields are reaping rich benefits of I.T. As a result of this, I.T engineers have opportunities not only in computers but in almost all the engineering fields. The Computer & Information Technology Department of GHRIET is set to introduce the subjects from basic to state of art in the related areas. Department has laboratories like hardware & software labs, Computer Network, Graphics, Multimedia & Simulation lab.The computer club & students’ associations supplement the teaching by arranging seminars, workshops and conferences. The department has well qualified and experienced faculty. Being the fastest developing branch, class room teaching is supplemented with the lectures of eminent working professionals from the related areas. Department had conducted IBM academic initiative program under which IBM Provides Training and Certification for Students and Faculty which helps them to get in pace with industry.

    Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

    • PEO1: The graduate will be able to apply Core Competence in mathematical, scientific and basic engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, analyze and solve hardware/software engineering problems of industry and society.
    • PEO2: The graduate will be prepared with advance knowledge in core areas of Information Technology and related engineering so as to comprehend engineering trade-offs to create novel products and solutions for the real life problems.

    Welcome to Department of Information Technology. The Department of Information Technology was established in 2007. The department offers Bachelor Degree in Information Technology. Department has collaboration with Industries for consultancy projects. Department has got funded project grant fromBCUDin2012. The graduates have found remarkable placements in prestigious companies and many students have obtained for higher studies. Our vision of department is providing center of excellence in the field of Information Technology Education & Training. Our goal is to provide students with a balance of training and practical experiences that will enable them to serve a problem solving ability to serve Industry and Societal needs.

    In our department students are nurtured to become best Software Professionals as Project Managers, System Analysts, and Network Administrator or Team leaders in industry or become Entrepreneurs in their own innovative way.   • Career Scope

    A plethora of job opportunities awaits the students after the completion of an Engineering degree in Computer Science:-

    • Software Developer- Software developers are professionals who are associated with facades of the software development process. It includes design, coding, computer programming and project management to name a few.

    • System Designer- It is the responsibility of these engineers to pursue system designing, logical & Physical designing. The Logical Designing involves output, input, files, database and procedure which are a part of a structure and characteristics.

    • Hardware Engineers- The professionals in this field are involved in research, development, designing of the computer hardware. It at the same time includes computer chips, system modems, printers, circuit boards, keyboards and printers working as a part of the installation of the hardware of the computer.

    • System Analyst- The professionals in this field are involved in pursuing research about the prevalent troubles/problems. They are also responsible for jotting down a plan to find out the solution of the problem. Recommendation of software also comes under their job profile. The coordination of development between the business development teams is also their responsibility.

    • Networking engineers- these professional have the responsibility of designing, implementing and troubleshooting of computer networks.

    • Database Administrator- These professionals are given responsibility of designing, implementing, maintaining and repairing of the database of their organization. This position is also known by other names like Database Coordinator or Database Programmer in the Information Technology sector.
